Discover new wild bananas in India
Botanists from Calicut University in Kerala, India have published descriptive information about the newly discovered wild bananas belonging to the genus Musa.
Musa is the original genus (genus) in India-Malesian, Asia and tropical regions of Australia.

The species in Musa genus are quite large, they are classified as perennial herb, can be as high as 9m. Fruits are usually cylindrical long, from straight to strongly curved, the fruit can be 40cm long and 8cm diameter.
There are five subspecies in the genus Musa, Australimusa, Callimusa, Musa, Rhodochlamys and Ingentimusa. Two of them are edible bananas.
Newly discovered and described species are named Musa arunachalensi s belonging to subgenus Rhodochlamys .
Rhodochlamys are characterized by inflorescences that can be erected or drooped but always directed towards the top of the inflorescence.
Most of the genus Musa is relatively less fruit and their appearance seems to be suitable for ornamental plants.
Sci-News magazine reported that wild bananas Musa arunachalesis were found in West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh, northeastern India. This species blooms and fruits from January to May. The difference with Musa differs in the nature of the flower cluster with the orange red leaves and the yellow top.
