Why are bananas bent?

Bananas are a nutrient-rich fruit familiar to us. Did anyone notice that all kinds of bananas are curved, big or small? It turns out, such a bent banana has its own reasons.

Through the process of dividing cells, banana plants grow buds (banana) and from there, they develop into bananas. First, banana buds will form near the base of the tree, then move slowly to the middle of the stem and form a full bud at the top. Banana buds have a spiky shape with a heavy weight, which causes it to hang on the ground.

The bananas undergo an interesting process called " Negative Geotropism" . Instead of growing down like other fruits, the bananas grow back in the direction of the sun, making it naturally curved.

Bananas will undergo the process of "reverse development against the gravity of the Earth" which causes the banana to naturally curl.

This development helps bananas get more sunlight.

But why is that? From ancient times when bananas were still a wild plant, it grew in the middle layer of the forest, where very little sunlight was received. If the fruit of the tree grows in the direction of the Earth's gravity (or the banana becomes straight), the tree will lose its balance because it is too heavy and will break.

Bananas have tried to grow fruit in the opposite direction of Earth gravity to balance the tree.

Therefore, bananas have sought to grow fruit in the opposite direction of Earth gravity to balance the tree , while receiving more sunlight. Therefore, the banana will curl as we see it today.
