Discover the mysteries of the ancient tomb of Maya

The inside of an ancient Maya tomb dating back 1,500 years revealed for the first time light and exposed the history of an ancient civilization, thanks to a tiny camera that was deep down into the ground.

According to National Geogric , discovered in 1999 inside a pyramid, this tomb is among the remaining ruins of the ancient Mayan city of Palenque, located in the hills of Chiapas, southern Mexico.

Until now, archaeologists have not been able to go deep into the grave believed to hold the remains of a Mayan leader, living around 431-550 .

According to a statement released by Mexico's National Institute of Archeology and History yesterday, a tiny camera was taken down 5 m through a small hole at the top of the pyramid. From the images recorded by the camera, the researchers saw for the first time the red-and-black paint on the walls, with ceramic pieces and the jade and pearls.

" The character of this burial site shows that the remains belong to a sacred leader of Palenque, possibly one of the founders of the dynasty, " said archaeologist Martha Cuevas.
