Hackers are turning to direct attacks on electronic transactions instead of attacking users or organized businesses like before.

This is the judgment of Symantec Chairman and CEO John Thompson at Symantec Vision conference held in Tokyo city.

Mr. Thompson affirmed that the trend started a few years ago, but recently it has really been 'accelerated'.

' A few years ago all the attention was on attacks on systems or users. But it was during that time that attacks on Internet trading activities appeared silently. So far we have recorded a clear shift in both the form and motivation of cyber criminals. What we see today are attacks that have a clearer, more silent goal and with a final goal of causing real financial losses . '

Symantec's Asia-Pacific business manager Bill Robbins said that the shift in attack form and motivation meant that businesses would need to invest a lot of effort and financial resources. more for data security and must invest in technology that allows recording all access activities using enterprise databases.

If so, businesses will avoid the risk of information leakage and avoid becoming a "good bait" for cyber criminals.

' The increasing trend of intentional criminal activities will obviously become more pronounced and more and more B2C activities are being exploited and becoming victims of criminals ,' Robbins said.

Preventing this trend is not easy. However, businesses need to focus on investing in more security solutions. Not only focus on technology, but also on people because people are the weakest link in the chain of security chains.

Symantec's warning comes at a time when fears of cybercrime are increasing and law enforcement agencies around the world have begun to pay more attention to this problem. The dangers of cybercrime they are no longer confined to the borders of a nation's territory and they have gone beyond the globe. This requires a close coordination between countries.

Just recently, the FBI pulled out dozens of cyber criminals specializing in stealing financial personal information from users around the world.
