The meeting took place in the context of VAST being the project owner of the remote sensing satellite VNREDSAT 1 on May 6, the satellite was implemented through ODA projects funded by the French Government, with about 56 million euros of capital Preferential loans from the Government and French partners - Astrium company.

Successful launch of Vietnam's first remote sensing satellite into orbit on May 6 is an "important milestone" in scientific and technological cooperation between Vietnam and France. This is considered a typical project for bilateral cooperation in this field.

Astrium company brings the first photos of VNREDSAT1 and the remote sensing satellite model of Vietnam to demonstrate the results of the project.

It is expected that on August 8, Astrium supplier will transfer the entire project to VAST, so that Vietnam will master the operation and exploitation of this satellite through trained officials and engineers. created in France in the last two years.

Bricq expressed her wish that France will be a priority country for Vietnam in developing satellite remote sensing technology, when Vietnam plans to develop a number of satellites.

Following the results of the first project VNREDSAT1, VAST implemented Vietnam Satellite Technology Research and Development Strategy to 2020, such as a cooperation project with Japan and Belgium to build a research center. The universe is expected to be completed in 2020. Within the project, two remote sensing satellites are expected to use radar technology and a super-spectrum satellite will be designed, built and launched into orbit.

According to Mr. Chau Van Minh, the demand for satellite technology application in Vietnam is "very large and necessary", effectively contributing to the monitoring and management of natural resources, disaster prevention and disaster warning. preventing and limiting damage caused by natural disasters ., as well as requirements on photo use and research and development, training .

After VNREDSAT 1 project, Astrium wishes to continue cooperation with VAST. Minister Nicole Bricq said France is ready to continue to support Vietnam and VAST financially to implement the next projects in this area.
