First detection of spyware attacks Mac OS X

Security experts have just discovered the first adware / spyware to attack Apple Computer's Mac OS X operating system.

Security firm F-Secure said the malware could automatically install it on Mac systems and hook into any applications that were started. Another "feature" of this software can automatically start a browser window on the infected system.

F-Secure has tested and confirmed that iAdware is fully capable of opening a new Safari browser window every time a user uses this web browser.

" We will not disclose iAdware specifications ," F-Secure said. " What iAdware can do is not the Mac OS X operating system security bug. However, the danger is that the software installs a System Library without warning users ."

The software can be installed without the need for administrator access. " Administrators can install this software on every user's account ."

Security experts have long warned that the Mac PC platform is not completely immune to malware attacks. This year the first trojan to attack Mac OS X was also discovered.
