First iPod virus: harmless!
In fact, the first virus targeting the most popular music player today is just like a warning bell rather than a real threat.
In fact, the first virus targeting the most popular music player today is just like a warning bell rather than a real threat.
Last week, security firm Kaspersky Labs said it had discovered the first virus, designed to attack iPods alone. However, a few hours later, Kaspersky quickly realized that the virus was only capable of attacking the iPods that users replaced the dedicated Apple operating system with Linux open source.
In other words, it's more like a Linux virus than a direct hit on the iPod.
And yet, the virus proved more "harmless" when it was not able to "infect" in the right way. Users must download and install the Trojan manually, which is very unlikely.
Only then can the virus scan the iPod's hard drive and infect all exe files. If a user runs an infected application, they will read the message: " You have been infected with Oslo - the first iPodLinux virus ".
According to Kaspersky, Olso seems like a more idea virus. Often, security experts still use this kind of idea virus to point out vulnerabilities, weaknesses and attacks that target a particular software / system, only they don't publish download software. never mind.
This is not the first time that iPod is the focus of security. Last October, Apple had to admit that among the video iPods it sold after September 12, many contained viruses that attacked the Windows operating system. Windows computers will face the risk of virus infection if users connect the iPod to the computer.
