This robot prototype called Explorer Tucson II or TEX II was designed by Wolfgang Fink at the University of Arizona. It has a pair of 1.8 m long foam casings connected upstairs which is a flat mold that holds the device. TEX II floats and works effectively on rivers and lakes.
The TEX II is mounted on the water as a seaplane, it carries 68kg of modern equipment such as sensors, cameras, sonar probes that can be explored 100 meters deep. Widely used to attach more equipment. The propellers are placed behind the pair and operate independently of each other, so the TEX II can go forward, backward, turn left, right easily.
The launch day for TEX II is far from over, but it will be very useful to study the marine environment, search and rescue, rescue and harbor monitoring.
