Picture 1 of Gecko work
Robot Stickybot - Photo: Stanford University gecko robot can climb the wall and go through the ceiling thanks to the millions of tiny feathers on the surface stiff leg it. Each leg of the robot is sucked into the wall by a molecular force called the van der Waals force, which allows the robot to grasp the wall.

This sticky robot was created by Mark Cutkosky and the research team at Stanford University in California. Stickybot's legs have artificial feathers made of an elastic material, ensuring a large contact area between the robot's legs and the wall.

The Pentagon is very interested in developing shoes and glove for climbing skill like gecko. Cutkosky says a robot like Stickybot can also be used to explore planets or serve as rescue robots.
