Ghost radio in Russia plays a mysterious sound for nearly 50 years

Since the 1970s, a mysterious Russian radio station has continuously made a loud sound with code and numbers.

This radio, known as "The Buzzer" or "MDZhB" , often appears in the middle of Russia's swamp near St. Petersburg.

Who broadcast?

However, Buzzer's activity and the identity of the broadcaster is still a mystery with many speculations involving Russian and aliens.

Buzzer is a shortwave radio of unknown origin, first heard in late 1970 and recorded for the first time in 1982. Although Buzzer's noise has changed slightly over the years, it always emitting a steady squeal, sometimes being interrupted by a voice like a message.

Buzzers often appear at 4625 kHZ and can be detected from anywhere in the world. The radio seems to appear from a swamp near TP St. Petersburg but no one knows anything about Buzzer broadcasters.

Although never acknowledged, the Russian military is said to be the owner of this radio. And a series of buzzer use hypotheses were also released, including contact with aliens and military spies.

"Safety switch"?

Another theory is that Buzzer is a "safety switch". If this hypothesis is correct, in the case of a nuclear attack on Russia, MDZhB radio will stop ringing and start an automatic counter attack.

Although these hypotheses have not been proven, the murmur still reveals a lot of clues. This signal is of "short-wave" type , operating at a relatively low frequency compared to radio and telephone signals. This frequency allows radio to cover a large area. Therefore, for a global military or spy network, this radio station can transmit messages.

MDZhB is also said to be used to detect missile distances. However, Professor David Stupples, an expert in electronic intelligence at City University (UK), said that this hypothesis is unfounded because the wave to detect rockets will sound like the siren of car.

Nobody understands

So, the most trusted hypothesis is that Buzzer is a combination of two things.First, the continuous emanating sound is simply a type of markup that prevents others from using this radio. Recently, this feature has been tested by Maris Goldmanis, a radio enthusiast and regularly listens to Buzzer. In an interview with the BBC, Ms Goldmanis said: "In 2013, they issued a special message" Issuing Order 135 ". This is said to be an experimental message to call for combat readiness. .
