Ginseng is a herb of Asian and North American origin, which is circulated in the community for the prevention of flu and colds. However, there is no scientific evidence about this effect.

Recently, researchers from the University of Alberta, Canada, tested the effects of ginseng on colds on more than 300 people. Half of them drink 2 capsules of North American ginseng daily within 4 winter months, the rest use placebo. The results showed that only 10% of the ginseng group had colds, while the placebo group was 23%. Remarkably, symptoms and duration of colds in people who use ginseng are much lighter (reduced by 1/3).

According to the chief researcher of Tapun Basu, the ginseng extract is good for health because of its special ingredients with the ability to improve the immune system by stimulating immunoglobin - proteins that act as antibodies. "This can be seen as an effective alternative to the prevention of upper respiratory infections," Basu said.

According to experts, an adult has a cold at least twice a year, in which children and the elderly are more vulnerable. In general, ginseng is healthy, but pregnant women, patients with diabetes or high blood pressure should avoid this herb.
