In 1am 5.6, JTWC (United States) said the storm center was nearly 20.5 degrees north of 63.2 degrees east, about 310 miles northeast of Muscat, Oman. 43 feet high waves (1 foot = 0.3042m). Storm in the northwest, 10 hours per hour. The storm is very strong, from 140 to 170 nautical miles per hour (1 nautical mile = 1,852m).

Satellite images show that Gonu's eyes are very big, 22 miles (nearly 40 km) with many turbulence inside.
