The world's No. 1 search firm has licensed a new technology that allows making payments with a short message on a mobile phone. The move shows that Google is accelerating to take a more active role in the mobile device market.
Registered for the first time in February 2006, but not until the end of last week, patent number 20070203836 has just been published. Accordingly, 'the payment process can take place by compiling a simple text message from the payer, which includes the identity of the recipient and the amount to be sent'. After the message is transferred to the payment processing system, all the rest will be automated, including debit, credit or transfer .
The e-commerce form that Google registers will use a number of new terms like 'gpay' and 'gbuy'. Google said that the system would allow payment of very small amounts (micropayment) and allow mounting bank accounts, credit or debit.
