Highway replica hanging garden Babylon nearly intact after 2000 years

Archaeologists have discovered the Petra garden system in Jordan, dubbed the newly discovered copy of Babylon after 2,000 years of being buried.

Petra is located in the southwest of the Jordan desert, the old capital of ancient Nabate used to grow many kinds of trees, coconut, and grapes. Recently archaeologists have discovered traces of an ancient hanging garden like the Babylon legend in Iraq.

The structure also has the park's intact water storage so much that many experts are astounded. Besides the water system, the trees are always green despite being in the desert all year round, with many fountains, small ponds and even a 44m long swimming pool.

According to the professor of anthropology at Penn State Behrend, this garden is a symbol of the success of Nabate people. The architectural combination is beautiful and plays the role of leading water from outside the city to the center. Particularly, the swimming pool is also a role to store water from Ein Brak underground suburb of Petra. This water is big enough for living and growing, producing alcohol and olive oil.

Through archaeological work, scientists discovered 10 meter deep underground waterways and canals to control the water level in the rainy season.
