Previously, people with HIV often avoided or advised not to have a baby because of fear of being able to infect from mother to child. Currently, advances in therapy, especially reproductive support methods increase the prospect of having a healthy child in people with HIV / AIDS.

According to BS. Adriana Cristine Arent, before using therapeutic drugs, the rate of mother-to-child HIV transmission is about 25%.

The use of some antiviral drugs during pregnancy or at least during delivery indicates a 5% reduction in infection rates. If the caesarean section is active, the rate of infection from mother to child can be reduced by up to 2%. Meanwhile, many experts believe that the virus in semen is free viruses and viruses in the form associated with other non-sperm cells.

Therefore, doctors can limit the risk of transmission to women who are not infected with HIV by filtering sperm before pumping to the mother at ovulation.

This method shows that up to 99% of HIV in semen is removed. Many artificial insemination centers in the world have routinely cleaned sperm to eliminate HIV.

If a woman is infected with HIV, filtering sperm and artificial insemination can prevent infection for men.
