According to the website kompas.com , the dike sections of Ciapit, Bancang and Kabuyutan seem to have broken, causing dozens of villages in Brebes and Central Java to be flooded.

It is reported that a 1km long road connecting Semarang, the capital of Central Java, with Jakarta was also submerged by the floodwaters, causing serious congestion on January 1, especially from Semarang area.

Residents requested logistical assistance and heavy equipment to repair the dyke section in Kabuyutan. Also the remaining two sections of dykes need to be fixed.

Indonesia often suffers from heavy rain and severe flooding from November to April every year. Only from the evening of January 1 until now, there have been many cities and regions in the provinces of East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Java and West Sumatra have been flooded.
