The two ancient coffins were opened on Sept. 21 in the presence of Egyptian Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anany and the press at the Egyptian Civilization Museum (NMEC) in Cairo.

According to the General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri, the mummies in the two sarcophagi coffins belonged to Sennedjem, the official who supervised the workers at the Deir al-Medina cemetery in Luxor during the pharaoh Seti I and Ramsesses II King dynasty 19th (XIII century - XII BC), one of his wives.Pictured is a mask of Sennedjem's wife removed from a casket at the Egyptian Civilization Museum in Cairo.

French Egyptologist Maspero discovered Sennedjem's coffin along with 20 other mummies in a tomb on the west bank of the Nile in 1886.

The wooden sarcophagi coffin will be restored and displayed at NMEC, scheduled to open to visitors in December.
