The array of solar panels installed (in the security zone of Düsseldorf International Airport) on an area equivalent to 6 football pitches, with a capacity of about 2 megawatts, will provide enough electricity for 600 households. Each household has 4 members. Real-time traffic meters are installed in the airport corridors to help passengers recognize how much electricity is being generated, as well as how much of this solar energy system has reduced the amount of gas. CO 2 is released into the atmosphere.

"Solar energy is not the only renewable energy source at Düsseldorf Airport. We also use: heat generated from solar technology to provide a hot water plant. helps reduce (more) CO 2 emissions, "says Christoph Blume, CEO of Düsseldorf airport, Germany.
