Yesterday, AMD officially introduced the first multi-media PC system to adopt the LIVE digital entertainment platform.

This is considered the latest move in the fierce competition between the microprocessor industry giants for computers.

AMD LIVE PCs is built on the dual-core Athlon 64 X2 processor platform, integrating a range of services and applications designed specifically for the digital entertainment platform.

Last August, Intel also launched a multi-media PC product line using technology VIIV. VIIV is equipped with existing features on entertainment devices, supports 5.1 or 7.1 line audio along with the ability to automatically transcode multi media files to ensure the highest compatibility.

Intel will also integrate VIIV technology into other devices to meet the requirements of stereo support and types of DVD players, or computer systems running Windows XP Media Center.

In contrast, AMD LIVE is somewhat different. With this technology, AMD focuses more on applications. For example, LIVE supports a service named on Demand that supports streaming file standards or a variety of digital entertainment devices. Or LogMeIn is an application that allows system access control from grinding. Media Vault is an AMD service that provides users with up to 25GB of free storage for back-up multimedia content.

Unlike the built-in applications of VIIV, AMD offers many applications for free in LIVE through its website.

' With LIVE technology, AMD has stepped into the field of TV communications that are increasingly thriving with broadband core interactive services applications, ' said Bob Brewer, vice president of product lines. AMD PC - said.
