Microsoft is not the only company to reissue security fixes this month because Intel is also releasing a serious security patch for the Centrino platform.
The reason for Intel's re-issuance of the patch is that it has detected a bug (bug) in memory. The spokesman said the upgrade patch will be available at Intel's website today (August 25).
Specifically, Intel experts found an error in the Proset wireless connection software (once provided with the previous upgrade). This vulnerability could cause Proset to consume more PC memory than necessary, and eventually result in reduced performance.
The patch released by Intel earlier this month contains security fixes for vulnerabilities in some Pro / Wireless Network Connection drivers, as well as in Proset software. According to Intel, the most serious vulnerability among these security flaws "could be exploited remotely to execute malicious binaries, or allow hackers to deny service".
Due to the above memory problem with Proset and not the driver itself, users who installed the upgrade earlier this month can uninstall Proset and use other software, such as a utility. Connect to the Windows network to connect to the wireless network.
According to Mikko Hypponen, research director at F-Secure, users can also download Intel software and install them on their computers via the Windows Control Panel. Hypponen also installed an early upgrade of Intel and found that they use 600Mb of physical memory and virtual memory.
According to F-Secure, the company has yet to detect any attacks taking advantage of Intel's patch vulnerability.
