This thermometer is currently located in Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province. The people here are very proud of this giant thermometer and see it as a unique work of art in Shenyang City.
This giant thermometer is placed on the tallest observatory in Shenyang with an elevation of about 18 stories. People can read the temperature displayed on this thermometer at a distance of 500 to 800 meters.
The thermometer's temperature sensor sends the collected data to the processing computer and then the computer automatically orders an increase or decrease of the 'mercury column' of the thermometer to the correct temperature. This thermometer can measure temperature accurately in the range of -35oC to + 40oC.
Jiang Xinhua, one of the thermoforming engineers, said that the price of this giant thermometer is not very high, about 500,000 yuan, or about 62,500 dollars.
