Late eating can be harmful to the skin

Eating late at night can make your skin vulnerable, according to research published on Medical News Today.

Co-author of the study, Dr. Joseph S. Takahashi, at the Department of Neurology at Southwest Medical Center, University of Texas (USA) and colleagues reported that abnormal eating times have changed the rhythm. Biological on rat skin, reducing daytime activity of an enzyme that protects skin from harmful UV rays.

UV exposure is a major risk factor for sunburn, skin aging and skin cancer.

UVA rays - accounting for up to 95% of UV light when reaching the earth's surface - penetrates deeper layers of skin. They are a major cause of skin aging, and they also play a role in skin cancer.

UVB rays cause the most damage to the outer layer of skin, and they are the main cause of sunburn and skin cancer.

Wearing sun-protective clothing and sunscreen are two of the best ways to protect our skin against the harmful effects of UV rays. New research by Dr. Takahashi and colleagues, shows that adhering to a normal diet can also help.

The discovery was published in Cell Reports magazine.
