Scientists from Brigham and Boston Women's Hospital and the University of Murcia conducted research on 420 overweight people participating in a 20-week weight loss program in Spain.

Dr. Frank Scheer, head of the project team, said: 'This is the first large-scale study to demonstrate that eating time plays an important role in effective weight loss.'

The researchers followed two groups for early lunch - before 3pm and late to eat - after 3pm. The results showed that those who had late lunch lost significantly less weight than those who ate early.

Besides, small snacks during the day do not have any bad effects on weight loss. And late dinners are also the causes of miserable weight loss and increased risk of diabetes.

'Research has demonstrated the importance of eating time with weight loss. Weight loss programs should incorporate daily calorie intake and consumption with time of day , 'said Dr. Marta Garaulet, University of Murcia.
