On June 23, 2007, at the American Diabetes Association annual meeting held in Chicago, researchers introduced two medical devices using infrared technology to measure blood sugar. These are tools to monitor blood levels of glusoce in a non-invasive form.

Dr. Robert Gabbay, of Penn State University Medical Center, and colleagues said they have successfully tested GlucoLight, optical imaging device (OCT), for 27 diabetics. categories 1 and 2.

GlucoLight measures blood sugar levels by shining infrared rays on the patient's skin. According to the report presented at the conference, these two products are capable of providing accurate blood glucose readings.

Dr. Gabbay said: 'GlucoLight blood glucose measurement does not cause any significant side effects. Our upcoming effort is to improve the accuracy of the device when used for patients with hypoglycemia '.

GlucoLight Corporation, the GlucoLight production unit, said that with its proprietary infrared technology, they provided an effective and acceptable means to check blood sugar. The company believes that GlucoLight will significantly reduce the number of cases of having to extract blood from the fingertips for blood sugar testing today.

Also at the conference, Orna Amir, an expert with OrSense Ltd. In Rehovot, Israel, also introduced the NBM-100G, the type of blood glucose measuring device researched and produced by the company. This device uses near infrared rays and also operates under non-invasive testing.

According to Mr. Amir, recent test results in 7 diabetic patients showed that the NBM-100G provided accurate blood glucose readings.
