Microsoft has decided to officially stop all free technical support for Windows 98, 98 SE and Millennium Edition (Me) operating systems since July 11, 2006.

Along with that, the developer recommends that users upgrade their operating system version as soon as possible. Microsoft customers have also received notice of the deadline for all free support.

Earlier, Microsoft decided to delay this deadline from January 16, 2004 to July 11, 2006, because many customers still use the legal version of the above operating systems.

Exactly, all free support and security patches for Windows 98 and Me have officially ended from June 30, 2003 and December 31, 2003.

Microsoft will continue to maintain all Windows 98 and Me help documents on its website until July 11, 2006. However, if there are no updates patches, customers will have to face the risk of attack.

In its statement, Microsoft said it decided to end all support for Windows 98 and Me because the operating systems were too old and had too many security risks.
