Nanoparticles cause blood to stop flowing immediately

The blood flowing on the battlefield was one of the incidents that any soldier could meet. But thanks to a type of nano-tape made by American scientists, the risk of death from blood flow will decrease significantly.

Popular Science reported that scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the US have successfully built a nano coating capable of stopping bleeding almost immediately thanks to thrombin, a blood coagulant.

Injuries and bloodshed during battle are scenarios that every soldier must accept.

The team sprayed a layer of thrombin and tannic acid on the thin films and laid the film on the gauze that soldiers and military doctors could carry easily. Swabs are designed so that the user can place on any type of wound. Their ability to prevent blood flow and their level of convenience is much higher than that of regular syrup and medical gauze. For example, it is not possible to use a syrup to stop the wound on the neck, while nano gauze is suitable for all body wounds.

Animal body produces thrombin to prevent bleeding. Civil hospitals have applied thrombin during treatment, but civilian doctors use only liquid thrombin so that swabs can suck it before the doctor places the gauze on the wound. Carrying loose thrombin on the battlefield is difficult for soldiers and military doctors.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of thrombin and tannin acid. That means that nano gauze can be widely used in the near future. Currently the MIT team is looking to build a type of gauze that contains both a thrombin coating and a class of antibiotics. This type of gauze may prevent both bleeding and the risk of infection in the wound.
