A drug that has twice the weight loss effect of any type on the market is being developed by Danish experts. With a dose of 1 tablet per day, in just 6 months, you can reduce 2 size pants.
This drug aims to control the appetite of the brain, reducing the need to eat and making people more full.
The research team at Copenhagen University (Denmark) investigated how the new drug - called tesofensine - affects the weight of more than 200 people, both men and women. They take medicine or placebo for 6 months, and eat less food than usual.
As a result, with the new drug, an average reduction of 10% of body weight, equivalent to 2 sizes of clothing.
Patients taking the drug have about 8 times more weight loss than those who take a placebo.
Professor Astrup, president of the International Association for Obesity Research, said: "We are quite surprised to see this result. It is extremely promising."
The drug was originally developed to treat Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, altering the levels of 3 chemicals in the brain related to the appetite zone.
However, tesofensine also has side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and insomnia. Some people feel that their xinxing changes, feeling more angry.
Professor Astrup said large-scale trials will begin next year.
