New prospects for women with radiation therapy still have children
In Vietnam, this is the first study and it opens up the prospect of helping women who have cancer to be treated can still have children.
The fact that calves are born from frozen egg cells is not new to the world (although the success rate is very low). But in Vietnam, this is the first study and it opens up the prospect of helping women who have cancer to be treated can still have children.

The work was carried out by Master Phan Kim Ngoc and colleagues with the combination of Ho Chi Minh City Biotechnology Center. The results of the study are two calves born healthy.
Previously, for women with cancer (in other tissues, not in the ovaries) treated with irradiation, the desire to have children was unbelievable. Because after irradiation, radiation can cause genetic mutations of egg cells, making babies born with malformations, teratogens .
The success of the study by the group of scientists has brought great opportunities for women with cancer who have to be treated with radiation while still wanting children. These patients, before receiving radiation therapy, may require the doctor to remove some egg cells and conduct cold storage.
A long time later, if these people wanted to have children, they would perform the freezing of these cells and conduct in vitro fertilization to give birth to a normal baby.
This is a significant success not only for humans but also for the conservation of rare and endangered species.
For example, when there is a rare and precious animal in danger of extinction. Maybe for some reason the only little animal left is dead. At that time, scientists can take reproductive cells or any few cells on that animal and put it in cold storage. When there is a need to restore it will bring the cells to freeze, conduct fertilization and propagation.
