Rod Smith, deputy director of IBM's new technology division, yesterday introduced QEDwiki software, short for "quick and easily done wiki" (wikis are made easily and quickly) as well as discussing terms. Increasing interest of "Big Blue" for command languages. " The goal of QEDwiki is to help people create their own websites by dragging and dropping different elements into one table, " Smith said.

For example, an entrepreneur can build a notice board to monitor weather affecting sales at retailers. Gather information from public websites, such as map and weather services, who can "assemble" a simple but useful application.

" The idea of mashups (terminology for companies that provide software that combines data and web services of many businesses) is attracting great interest from technology units. And we realized a new generation of applications is coming out , "Smith said.

Several web technologies, such as RSS, XML and wikis (websites allow people to edit any information they read on it), are gradually being used in the enterprise environment.

IBM is trying to bring these technologies into software and services to create applications that are "fast and exist in a relatively short time". QEDwiki will serve those who want to build web applications without the support of a programming expert. It uses AJAX code and a wiki to collect and share information such as Atom and RSS feeds (Atom is similar technology to RSS).

If you want to be more customizable, people can combine PHP language with QEDwiki. IBM is allowing some customers to test QEDwiki and may release official software on IBM's new technology site Alphaworks this year.
