Nha Trang: Supporting coral farmers

PGS-TSKH Nguyen Tac An, director of the Institute of Oceanography in Nha Trang (HDH) said: The institute is preparing to coordinate and support localities and people to apply coral growing in Cu areas. Lao Cham (Quang Nam) and Con Co (Quang Tri) .

After completing the research project of state-level science on artificial culture of corals, HDH Institute collaborated with Binh Dinh province to deploy the application of planting about 20ha of coral by method artificial in Ganh Rang sea.

The level of investment to grow corals on the mentioned area is VND 250 million. When coral is grown stably, HDH has handed over to the locality to hand over to people for management and exploitation .

In addition, HDH Institute has planted about 1 ha of coral in Hon Mun sea (Nha Trang).

Still according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tac An: In nature, coral only grows about 1-1.6cm / year. But in conditions of artificial impact, corals planted by the Institute of HDH within 6 months have grown from about 3 to 10 cm (photo). In the seas where corals develop will increase the value for the landscape and the marine environment, help increase many species of seafood . bring many benefits for humans
