Cham 2-year-old daughter is being treated at the Infectious Department, Central Children's Hospital, Hanoi, 35-year-old Pham Thi Que (Uong Bi, Quang Ninh) does not stop surprised to know her child has whooping cough. At first, when he saw that he had a mild cough, then increased, she took her child to a doctor's house near her home to be diagnosed with bronchitis. Treatment for 10 days without support, she let her go to Quang Ninh Maternity Hospital. 3 days after the disease is still not relieved, doctors suspect the child has pertussis.

Bewildered, she and her husband rushed to send their children to the Central Children Hospital. Here, doctors diagnose a child with pertussis. According to Que, despite being 2 years old, her baby has only received a 5-in-1 vaccine for diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, Hib and hepatitis. After that, for reasons of illness or illness, the child has not received any more injections.

Located next to the bed of her daughter Que, her family, Vu Thi Thuy, 24 years old, in Quang Ninh only 2 months old, also had pertussis. Previously, she saw her coughing normally, so she took her to the hospital near her home and was diagnosed with laryngitis. Then the child coughs worse, the doctor suspects a whooping cough, so her family rushes to take the child directly to the Central Children Hospital.

Monitoring results of the expanded Immunization Office in the North show that, over the past month, the Central Children Hospital received and treated 48 whooping cough patients, up 26 cases over the same period last year. According to Dr. Pham Quang Thai, the Office of Vaccination expanded in the North, whooping cough tends to increase slightly. At present, people often go to service vaccines, invisible to prolong the time when children are not protected. It is these unprotected children who unknowingly become a bridge to bring disease to younger children. This is why some 2-month-olds or younger children are infected.

Besides, the National Hospital of Pediatrics also recorded 91 measles patients, up 51 cases over the same period last year. According to Dr Thai, about 61% of children get measles and most of the children with pertussis are not yet vaccinated or not yet because they are waiting for a 5-in-1 or 6-in-1 vaccine with whooping cough - These vaccines are very lacking.

According to the Preventive Medicine Department, the Ministry of Health, since the beginning of the year, the country has recorded a number of cases of dangerous infectious diseases such as whooping cough, measles, rubella . Especially many children get sick early. like whooping cough in children 2-3 months old, measles at 9-12 months of age. This is the age of children who need to be vaccinated on a full schedule but have not been vaccinated.

The reason is partly because mothers do not know what postpartum babies need to be vaccinated and what vaccination schedule is, especially children under one year of age. In addition, some have the psychology of waiting for the vaccination service without taking children to the vaccination schedule of the expanded immunization program. Many mothers are afraid of reaction after vaccination, afraid of sick children.

Our country is winter-spring, environmental conditions are very favorable for bacteria, viruses to develop and spread, increasing the risk of children 's diseases especially influenza, measles, rubella, whooping cough , diarrhea . In order to effectively prevent disease, mothers need to know the diseases that are effectively prevented by vaccination, as well as the full immunization schedule for children, especially for children under one year of age. .
