Parent origin affects the height of children

If you want to have older children later, start thinking about finding your other half born in another region. This research has just been published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology.

Scientists have discovered that if both parents are born in the same area, then their children can only achieve average height. But this will be the opposite if 2 people grow up in 2 different regions.

Lead researcher Dariusz Danel from the Institute of Anthropology at the Polish Academy of Sciences said the main reason is due to genetic diversity.

Parents who come from remote areas will have more different genes than those who grow up in the same area.

The greater the genetic diversity, the greater the chance that children will grow up with the body's organs.

Energy is saved by that efficiency and positively supports the development process, Dr. Danel told Live Science.

He said: 'This effect is visible in children in 3 stages of development, from 6 to 18 years'.

Dr. Danel and his team conducted a study of the height of 2,675 men and 2,603 women in Poland as well as learning about the height of parents and their family income.

The results show that each person's height is determined by their parents' height and wealth, as they will be nurtured better in this condition. Scientists also found clear evidence that the marriage gap accounts for about 20% of height variations in boys and 14% in variations in girls.

Boys are more likely to be affected because they grow at a faster rate and for a longer period of time than girls.

Dr. Danel shared more, the marriage gap has a more significant effect than in the previous century.

This is mainly due to the diet. Western children eat more, enough energy to boost growth. While at times when providing adequate nutrition to the body is difficult, the marriage gap is proven to be particularly beneficial.
