Pineapple smells of coconut
The Queensland Department of Agriculture confirmed that scientists are entering the stage of completing this new pineapple variety, which is named AusFestival pineapple.
'The test shows that AusFestival fragrant has a unique coconut smell, different from any other aroma in Australia. It's sweet, less acidic and succulent, ' said a new aromatic planter.
Garth Senewski, one of the researchers who developed AusFestival pineapple, confessed that the team accidentally created this aroma.
'When we started breeding new aromatic varieties, we absolutely did not try to create pineapple with coconut flavor or any special smell. We just want to develop a pineapple that is sweet and less acidic, 'Senewski told AFP.
