Picture 1 of Recognize stomach ulcers
Most cases of gastric ulcer are caused by Helicobacter pylori (HP). In developing countries, this infection is quite common, almost everyone can be infected.

Patients often become infected at a young age, often from mother to child and this bacterium can survive in the stomach for the rest of the life of an infected person. Chronic infections begin in the lower part of the stomach (the part of the stomach that connects to the pylorus), gradually increasing the level of acid secreted in the upper healthy stomach area, leading to ulcers.

How do I know if I have stomach ulcers? Doctors will evaluate based on your symptoms. However, there are also warning signs that can help you identify your stomach ulcer:

- Dull stomach pain, sometimes pain such as cramps, hot, tight stomach.

- The stomach often hurts after eating, but can also return many hours later.

- Pain at midnight when you don't eat for hours.

- Lose weight and lose appetite.

- Vomiting.

If you notice that you have these symptoms, see your doctor for prompt treatment, to prevent complications (such as stomach bleeding or gastric perforation).
