Funded by DARPA, a research firm based in Boston, USA, iRobot has introduced a new PackBot line, can be inflated.

According to an article in the Automation blog of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), iRobot has processed and added arm pumping can replace the previous metal arm.

'AIRarms are lightweight, cheap and easy to fold when not in use' , according to a blog post. The inflated parts can significantly reduce the weight of the robot.

Although lightweight, AIRarm is still capable of handling and lifting loads weighing at least 2.3kg, according to NBC News.

DARPA has provided $ 650,000 to iRobot to continue research related to this pumping technology.
