Seeing a gibbon skull fossil dating from 20 million years

French and Ugandan scientists discovered a gibbon skull fossil that climbed trees dating back about 20 million years ago in the Karamoja region in northeastern Uganda.

"This is the first time that a gibbon's skull of such a date has been found. It is an important fossil contributing to Uganda's world science map," said Martin Pickford, a paleontologist. The material of the French college said.

Large canines show that a 20 million year old ape is a young man.It is believed he died when he was about 10 years old.

The fossil skull was discovered to belong to an Ugandapithecus Major, a distant relative of the great ape, who lived 20 million years ago.

The image of the skull is projected on a wall in Uganda's capital for a press conference.

Initial research shows that monkeys die when they are 10 years old. Its head is about the size of a chimpanzee's head, but the brain is about the size of a baboon's brain.

Fossils will be taken to Paris for X-rays and materials before returning to Uganda.
