What is Linga?
Linga (Sanskrit: लिङ्गं liṅgaṃ, meaning "sign" ) is a symbol of worship of the Hindu god Shiva. Although its origin has not been determined, this worship symbol in India has been used at least since the early period of the Indian River valley civilization. This is one of the two sacred objects of worship (along with yoni) of Hinduism.
- Linga represents a positive, cylindrical shape placed on yoni (square shape, representing gas).
- Linga and yoni represent the yin-yang combination, creating the destruction and rebirth of the universe.
- Linga represents the penis of the god Shiva and Yoni represents the pussy of Kali.
