Scientists from the Southern Institute of Fruit Trees have tried to produce and develop non-seeded Orange 6 seed orange in the direction of VietGAP in the Mekong Delta provinces.

This is the result of the KC.06.DA01 / 11-15 project under the key State-level S&T program in the period of 2011-2015 (Research and application and technology development for production of key products) .

Subject by TS. Dr. Vo Huu Thoai said that the authors have successfully implemented and applied Sanh Cam model with VietGAP certification with a scale of 7-9 ha, productivity of 10-15 tons / ha (3rd year), quality good. The average yield of trees in the third year is 14 kg / tree and meets the quality criteria. Fruit flesh is orange-yellow, sweet and sour, brix degree 7.5- 8.0%, fruit juice ratio is 40 -42%, number of seeds / fruit is 0-3 seeds, average fruit weight is about 250 grams / fruit.

After 4 years of implementation, the project has introduced the technological processes including the disease-free orange seed breeding process of disease 6; The process of grafting, age of rootstock and suitable substrate helps successful transplant rate increase by 10-15% compared to previous grafting technique.

The process of planting and taking care of the orange tree with no 6 seeds in the direction of VietGAP is supplemented with the method of pruning the branches of the canopy, inorganic and organic fertilizer, the method of sweeping the drug to prevent yellowing of Greening leaves. At the same time, this process was also identified pest and disease components and beneficial microorganisms on seedless orange orchard to apply more effective control measures in production, hygiene, food safety in the direction of GAP.

There have been 90,000 varieties of Sardine seed produced over 4 years of project implementation. Seedlings reach the standard of planting and the price is higher than the market price. The project has been approved by the Council on acceptance on June 9, 2016.
