Sway, a strange tricycle model

After years of development, Sway has been announced as an entirely new prototype electric sports scooter. This car has a special steering wheel system with wheels that can tilt along each curve, thereby increasing the ability to grip more as well as providing more exciting new experiences. Sway is not equipped with an engine with "tremendous" horsepower through the introduction video, we still feel the speed and flexibility when the car "glides" on the road, especially when crossing corners.

Sway was researched and built by Joe Wilcox, a design engineer at IDEO (a company that designs many of the world's leading products, from toys to home appliances). Before coming to IDEO, Wilcox worked at NASA's Johnson Space Center and MIT in space-oriented projects. Currently Sway is one of the important projects developed by IDEO to attack the market of home entertainment products.

The car is a combination of an electric scooter and a tricycle, so the driver can relax without fear of losing balance. Sway is designed to be able to run on both snow and mud, while ensuring safety and traction.

The most special thing is the design of the front of the vehicle, the front wheels are attached to a moving axle system that can tilt according to the driver's control every time you change direction. As a result, the car feels like "surfing" on the road, tilting according to each movement of the driver, and the ability to grip crab very well when running at high speed.

Wilcox has also revealed some of the car's specifications, although it may change when it comes out. Sway is powered by a 20A-h, 60V lithium-ion battery, making it possible to run about 16km. 3500W motor block drives rear wheel, for maximum speed up to 64km / h. The car weighs only 104kg with a compact design (1.32 x 0.89 x 1.02m), and 3 wheels with a diameter of 10 inches.

According to Mr. Wilcox, this model will come to users in 2013. At that time, the scope of operation of the vehicle will be raised to nearly 50km / h. All decorative lights or headlights on vehicles are LED. The price of the car has yet to be announced, but one thing is for sure it will not be cheap at all.
