The key to longevity in red wine

French scientists discovered, a component of red wine has the ability to create a rich source of energy and especially can extend 60% of the life of the organism.

According to researchers from Lausanne Federal Polytechnic School in France, the astonishing ingredient in red wine is resveratrol .

Professor Johan Auwerx and his colleagues gave resveratrol to experimental worms and found it increased the lifespan of these organisms and made them more active.

Efforts to extend the life of the organism began when Swiss researchers searched for genes involved in the aging process. By studying mice with different lifetimes, they discovered three genes that play a key role in the life of the organism. When these genes are only half active, mice will live for eight months longer, according to a study report published on Nature.

Professor Auwerx later discovered that the three genes mentioned above also determine life expectancy in worms. The results are even more astounding when the process of affecting worms' genes can extend their life by up to 80%.

The researchers say the genes have created a protein, potentially reducing the lifespan of worms when produced in large numbers. He thought of two common antibiotics, which are capable of preventing such protein production and for trial worms. As a result, they increase by an average of 60% of life expectancy.

Importantly, these worms are also more active, have greater resistance and possess stronger muscles. This feature allows them to bend more violently while worms without antibiotics have become exhausted.

At 13 days of age, the adult stage of the worms, individuals using antibiotics move twice as much as other normal individuals. And a week later, when worms that were not treated with antibiotics began showing signs of aging, the difference was even bigger and easier to see.

A series of subsequent experiments confirmed that resveratrol also uses the same mechanism to extend the life of organisms. However, the influence is not so great.

However, Professor Auwerx asserts, his research and his colleagues help open up the prospect of ability to prolong life and increase active time for people with drugs and resveratrol. Because overuse of antibiotics and excessive consumption of red wine is dangerous, the key to the problem is to find a safe but effective drug.
