The mother must isolate the child because of radiation

A British mother used to live in isolation and is not currently allowed to touch her children because the treatment of thyroid cancer has caused her to radiate.

Emma Day, 27, has been prescribed high doses of radioactive iodine to fight thyroid cancer. This means that she was isolated during her inpatient treatment at the hospital. Health workers are prohibited from approaching her within 3 meters for 5 days.

However, according to Emma, things became even more unpleasant since she was allowed to return home. She must stay away from her 6-year-old daughter and 2 1-year-old twin daughters for another 3 weeks, because physical contact can cause permanent damage to them.

"This is very difficult because my twin daughters are too young to understand. My eldest daughter was explained by a cancer psychologist that my treatment is very necessary and my child I understand that process will make me better, " Emma said.

The 3-year-old mother added that she had given birth to her twin daughters about 5 months after birth, so she was not used to being away from them. Currently she cannot embrace anyone and always has to keep a safe distance with the children when moving in the house.

This is the second war against Emma's cancer. She used to overcome leukemia as a child.

Emma was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in January after seeing a doctor because of a lump in her throat. After undergoing surgery to remove half of the tumor, she had to perform a course of treatment with radioactive iodine. This treatment involves taking medication containing radioactive iodine 131, allowing it to circulate throughout the body with blood sugar.

Thyroid cancer cells always absorb iodine anywhere in the body and radiation will destroy them. Other cells will not be affected because only thyroid cells absorb iodine.

The treatment made Emma always so high in radiation that anything she touched in the hospital was thrown away immediately. Although strong treatment is also dangerous for patients, the risk of cancer is thought to be much greater.

Emma confessed, the thought that she would be holding her children in her arms was the motivation for her to continue her fight against disease.
