The reason we feel tired at 2 pm

We often feel tired and sleepy at 2 pm because the brain's reward center is the weakest.

Scientists at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, discovered the reward center of the active human brain in the afternoon, especially when compared to its activity in the morning and in the evening, according to Mother Natura Network. Therefore, we often feel tired and sleepy after lunch break, around 2 pm. The findings were published in the August 21 issue of Neuroscience.

The team conducted a trial of 16 volunteers who were healthy men who did not participate in any long-distance trip. They participated in a card guessing game at 10 am, 2 pm and 7 pm.

All volunteers were connected to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during the test to monitor brain activity.

"We found activity at the reward center at the bottom of the frontal brain is always lowest at 2 pm, compared to the beginning and end of the day. This shows that the brain expects some reward. the time of day is more than other times, " said Jamie Byrne, the study's lead author.

According to Byrne, brain activity is governed by circadian rhythms and hormones that affect alertness. Research results will help us plan better work, as well as treat patients with depression and bipolar disorder at the time the brain's reward center works.
