New research by Italian scientists indicates the long-life secret of the medieval Temple knights is in the unique diet of this line of power and mystery.

According to Discovery News, the Temple knights are required to eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, dried beans, eat more fish than meat and drink just enough wine with aloe vera.

Formed around 1119 to protect Christian pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem, this group of monks and soldiers accumulated large amounts of wealth through land and loans. The convent deteriorated after Muslims recaptured the Holy Land and ceased operations after alleged heretics in 1314, along with the fact that patriarch Jacques De Molay was brought to the crematorium.

The study was published in early April in the Journal of Kidney and Gastrointestinal Disease, finding out why most of the Holy Temple knights lived much longer than those in the Middle Ages, which had an average life expectancy of 25 to 40 years. .

Long life is a strange feature of the Temple of the Holy Order . The most famous cases include Hugues de Payens, the first co-founder and patriarch of the religious order, who died in 1136 at the age of 66, Geoffrey de Charney, Normandy cleric who was executed at 63 and patriarch Jacques De Molay died at age 67.

"The special life of the Holy Temple knight is generally regarded as a gift given by God , " wrote Francesco Franceschi of Rome's Christian University. But the explanation made by the research team is simpler, involving strict adherence to specific habits specified in Bernard de Clairvaux's Latin Law. Some regulations focus on hygiene and nutrition.

" Washing your hands before eating is mandatory . In addition, the dining room is always clean with a table towel. Hunting for food is strictly prohibited. Instead, they promote fish, cheese, olive oil- Liu and fresh fruit, " Franceschi said.

Franceschi noted this habit in contrast to the poor Middle Ages. Foods high in fat and calories lead to a number of diseases such as kidney and gout, metabolic disorders, high blood pressure and obesity."The diet of the Congregation of the Holy Temple is prepared to combat these diseases. An overweight knight is hard to fight against dozens of enemies," the team concluded.

Franceschi and her colleagues searched for historical records and found that the knights ate only three days a week , partly to avoid the risk of cancer from barbecue, a popular dish of the Middle Ages.

The temple knights regard seafood as a reasonable alternative to meat, while eating large amounts of beans beside fruits and vegetables.

According to Franceshi, beans are the most effective source of natural antibiotics and act as nutrients for beneficial bacteria of the intestinal bacteria. This is one of the secrets to making a healthy diet. Finally, the Holy Temple knight drinks small or moderate amounts of alcohol, mixed with aloe vera, a plant that enhances resistance, antibacterial and fungi.

"We are convinced that diet and lifestyle are the explanation for the special long-lived life of the Holy Temple knights," the team shared.
