The gold pendant is nearly 1,500 years old, carved with the gods of Northern Europe, dedicated to joy, found on the Danish island of Lolland.

Carsten Helm, a metal detector, has discovered a gold pendant carved a man with a horse originating from 536 on the island of Lolland, Denmark, the Ancient Origins on December 14 reported. Experts believe that it depicts Oldin , the supreme deity in Norse mythology, riding the 8-foot Sleipnir god horse across 9 worlds to give joy to those who plead.

In addition, the pendant also engraved swastika shape, symbolizing the universe and meaning luck."This is a very rare and interesting discovery. Previously only three similar objects were found on Lolland Island , " said Marie Brinch, curator of the Lolland-Falster Museum.

According to Brinch, the image on the chain is one of the earliest descriptions of religion in Northern Europe. The pendant shows Oldin as a magician who can connect with the spirit world.

Another theory is that the pendant is one of the sacrifices to repel the cold weather that happened in the 6th century.

"The historical documents of the Roman Empire, Europe, the Middle East and China all refer to a year when the Sun does not shine and frost appears in the summer. This situation is sure to frighten many people. In that situation, it is natural to sacrifice to call for the help of the gods, who hope the shiny gold pendant will make the Sun appear again, " explained Brinch.
