The USD 4 million masterpiece is located in the British Museum

The painting was found in the Swansea Museum, England, which cost about $ 4 million by Belgian artist Jacob Jordaens.

Dr. Bendore Grosvenor, an art historian, identified the 17th-century painting found in Swansea Museum, which is owned by painter Jacob Jordaens and worth nearly $ 4 million, BBC reported on September 26.

Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678) is a Belgian painter famous for his historical paintings, landscapes and portraits. The painting was found to be a rare oil painting by Jordaens before he made his most famous work "Atalanta and Meleager".

The researchers discovered many seals, combining the letter A and the badges of the city of Antwerpen, the home of Jordaens, behind the picture. That proves that it was drawn in the years 1619–1621.

"This is a great discovery. It is certainly a quintessential Jordaens work," said Ben van Beneden, director of the Rubenshuis Museum, Antwerpen, Belgium.

"The picture is very beautiful and important. It helps us rewrite the story of Jacob Jordaens, one of my favorite painters, " Dr. Grosvenor said.
