Web 2.0-based technologies are expected to have a big impact on businesses including AJAX and mashups. These technologies are expected to grow to maturity in the next 2 years.

AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) is a development technique that increases interactivity for websites. A mashup, or self-generated web application, is a collection of online applications that meet user requirements.

Gartner also predicts that location-based applications using GPS and mobile networks will be widely used in the next two to five years.

Another area that businesses need to pay attention to is the network using sensors. Communication technology has the ability to switch between nodes to ensure the connection is a necessary condition for production and delivery lines for product distribution. However, this technology can only be widely used in about a decade.

Jackie Fenn, an emerging technology researcher at Gartner, says that the low-cost nodes used in sensor networks will provide the ability to provide information about all workflows - whether The product has been delivered to the buyer or has any defective products been shipped.

" It is a real-time monitoring solution for what's happening to business assets ," Fenn said.

A number of other technologies will also flourish in the future including the Semantic Web technology. Gartner said the Semantic Web technology will help cut costs and improve the quality of content management, information access, compatibility and integration.

Another topic in Gartner's report is that IT trade is growing rapidly.

Fenn said that businesses need to find ways to bring customer technology into a safe business mode to bring more business value.
