To cultivate green mushrooms, people need to prepare raw rice and root mushrooms, tools including autoclaves, incubators, plastic wrap and plastic tubes. The plate is soaked in water and then put into an autoclave, then mixed with the original mushroom, put in plastic wrap and incubated for 14 days. Finished mushrooms are filtered for water, mixed with adhesives and water to spray on the field. Because the green fungus is finished, farmers should call it green mushroom.
Green mushrooms are sprayed twice in one rice crop, the first time is 25-30 days in rice, and the second in 50-55 days. The cost of growing green mushrooms is about 100,000 VND / ha, about 5 times less than using pesticides, saving farmers from 700,000 VND to 1 million VND / ha in a rice crop. Green mushrooms when spraying on rice plants will parasitize and develop on the insect's body, causing insects to be destroyed, especially types of brown plant hoppers, leaf rollers and acacia worms.
Ms. Le Thi Nhu Thuy, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Department of Hau Giang Province, said the project to apply green mushrooms on rice plants was carried out by the Department from the winter-spring crop of 2010-2011 at 8 points, to the Summer crop. Fall 2011 is done at 12 points. People are supported with materials and materials and are instructed how to cultivate mushrooms and use them in the fields.
The winter-spring rice crop in 2012, the Sub-department carried out 17 points of green mushroom cultivation for about 250 ha, partly supporting materials and providing technical guidance to farmers. In the areas where green mushroom cultivation is conducted in the previous crops, people have cultivated green mushrooms themselves to use in rice fields.
Because green fungi are highly effective in preventing pests and diseases in rice, they do not affect the health of users, contributing to environmental protection in the field, especially reducing production costs for farmers, The Department of Plant Protection in Hau Giang province is aiming to expand the model of green mushroom cultivation, instructing many farmers on how to implement and use green mushrooms in the next rice crop.
