Video: Close-up of the giant wind turbine construction process, from digging the foundation to assembling turbine parts
The video below captures the process of assembling a giant wind turbine, from the steps of building the foundation, assembling in the engineering workshop, to finishing and starting the turbines.
What is a wind turbine?
A wind turbine is a device used to convert the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy and further convert it into electricity.
Wind power gives high power output but still protects the environment, so it is considered one of the most attractive sustainable energy sources.
Structure of a conventional wind turbine engine
The structure of the turbine engine includes:
- Anemometer: The wind speed measurement unit is responsible for transmitting the data of the wind speed to the control unit.
- Blades: Propellers. When the wind blows, it exerts force on the propeller, causing it to rotate, causing the turbine engine's shaft to rotate. This leads to the continuous motion of the wind turbine system.
- Brake: The brake (also known as the brake) is responsible for stopping the motor in case of an emergency.
- Rotor: Consists of propellers and shafts.
- Controller: Controller.
- Gear box: The gear box consists of the gear part connected to the high-speed shaft and the low-speed shaft.
- Generator: Generator part to generate electricity.
- High-speed shaft: High-speed shaft of a generator.
- Low – speed shaft: Low speed shaft
- High-speed shaft: High-speed shaft.
- Nacelle: The engine cover consists of the outer shell and the housing of the rotor, which is responsible for protecting the detailed internal components of the engine.
- Pitch: This is the part that keeps the rotors able to generate electricity as they spin in the wind.
Above is the process of building wind turbines, very elaborate, right?
