July 23, In Hanoi, the Bilateral Agreement on the Innovation Partnership Project (IPP) was signed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam.
The project lasts for 3 years (August 2009-2012) with a total cost of 3 million EUR funded by the Finnish government. To implement the project, the Vietnamese government will contribute VND 9.5 billion. This project aims to encourage innovation, open an open forum, improve science and technology management capacity to link the scientific network between Finland and Vietnam.
The project will contribute to the implementation of Vietnam's development goals by 2020 to become a middle-income industrialized country with an intellectual economy and a national innovation system that actively supports the work. social economic development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Thang said: The Ministry of Science and Technology highly appreciated the meaningful support of the Finnish Government through the IPP project. At the same time, the Deputy Minister also emphasized that the signing of the IPP Agreement reflects the appreciation of the role of science and technology and innovation of the Government of Vietnam in an effort to promote industrialization and modernization of the country. .
In order to share its successful experiences in the transformation of science and technology and innovation into a driving force for socio-economic development, on the Finnish side, Ambassador Pekka Hyvonen said that Vietnam's economy needs diversifying production structure, developing based on intellectual foundation that is crucial to boosting socio-economic. Therefore, IPP project will contribute to transforming traditional forms of cooperation into a new form.
