Mr. Truong Van Dung, Director of the Veterinary Institute, said that so far, the research results show that the H5N1 vaccine for poultry that Vietnam produces is relatively good. This proves that Vietnam can fully afford the vaccine itself, in the event of an H5N1 pandemic.

For vaccines for geese (Siamese ducks), the Veterinary Institute is also experimenting with a virus vaccine imported from Italy.

There are two types of vaccines for both ducks and ducks at one day of age and 15 days old. The Veterinary Institute has asked the Italian side to provide Vietnam with 10,000 doses of this kind of vaccine, after 2 months, it will have results.

According to Mr. Dung, if the rate of protection in swans and ducks is vaccinated to reach 70-80%, it is considered successful.

At the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat requested the local Veterinary Department to closely monitor the epidemiological changes in the flock of waterfowl, especially for the flock of unvaccinated ducks at high risk of virus infection. . Therefore, the Minister reminded the National Institute of Veterinary Medicine to try to complete the trial injection of vaccines in the field before August 2006 to put them into the 3 million cubes across the country from September.
